Labor of Love

As the New Year dawns, we at Parkland Chapel are looking forward to the transition into our newly refurbished building. We will move the Sunday evening Bible study there on January 8th and will begin Sunday mornings there on February 5th!
The rapid transformation of this building has taken place because, just as when Jerusalem’s wall was rebuilt in the book of Nehemiah, “the people had a mind to work”. Many have given of their time, talents and resources, to make this happen. Some cleaned, some painted, some built, but I believe that all have labored unto the Lord. The Lord provided carpet at pennies on the dollar, as well as free installation. But there is one provision that needs special mention.
In the book of Exodus, chapter upon chapter deal with the instructions the Lord gave Moses for the constructing of the Tabernacle and its instruments. Now Moses was a seasoned shepherd, not a skilled craftsman. I can imagine him studying the blueprints while trying to mask his panic with a thoughtful look, only to find he was holding them upside down. What would he do? He was no builder. This project would be a colossal disaster. “Then the Lord spoke to Moses saying, “I have called Bezalel, the son of Uri”and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.” It was the gifted Bezalel, along with his band of merry artisans, which physically made God’s vision through Moses a reality. My uncle, Jim Cox, has been that man in this remodeling project. Without his ability and availability, this project would have developed in an entirely different manner.
God has been faithful in so many ways. Please pray that He would be in the finishing touches of this labor of love. Please continue to pray for us as we prepare to launch into Sunday mornings.
Happy New Year and God bless,
Mike
