One of the foundational statements went something like this…‘be on the lookout for what God is doing around you, and then get involved.’ So when two of the eight people I went to India with this summer came and asked me—in the same week—what I thought about sending shoe boxes stuffed with Christmas gifts to the orphans we had ministered to, we immediately put the wheels in motion. About twenty years ago country music singer Garth Brooks had a hit single entitled Unanswered Prayers. The song details a man’s encounter with an old high school flame, at a high school football game which he attends with his wife. Having repeatedly prayed for God to let him marry this girl while in his youth he now thanks God that He did not answer that prayer and instead gave him his wife. I liked this song, and it was a chart topper for Garth, but I am afraid his perspective wasn’t correct Biblically , because, God always answers prayers.
