“Merry Christmas India”

For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. (Matthew 6:8)
Years ago I took a course called Experiencing God, that was aimed at helping believers identify and actively engage in God’s will for their lives. One of the foundational statements went something like this…‘be on the lookout for what God is doing around you, and then get involved.’ So when two of the eight people I went to India with this summer came and asked me—in the same week—what I thought about sending shoe boxes stuffed with Christmas gifts to the orphans we had ministered to, we immediately put the wheels in motion.

One of the foundational statement in the Calvary Chapel movement is ‘where God guides He provides’; in other words, you can know God is in something as He provides for it. This project was earmarked with God’s provision. People brought shoe boxes, items to fill them with and money to ship them with. Others volunteered two different Sunday afternoons to fill and wrap boxes. In the end, we had 55 shoe boxes prepared, with the name and picture of the child to whom they were for taped under the lids.

When we arrived at the post office we realized that we had underestimated the cost of shipping 187 pounds (we had no clue it would be that much) of Christmas gifts to India by more than half of what was needed. But God had already foreseen our short-sightedness and opened His storehouses, as just two days before there were funds given specifically for India, totaling what we needed to ship the boxes to within just a few dollars.

Thank you all for whatever part you played in the process. Praise the Lord for His plan and provision.
