How it all started...
Parkland Chapel is a direct outreach of Maranatha Chapel in San Diego, California. Maranatha Chapel is a non-denominational church affiliated with Calvary Chapel Fellowships. We began in Pastor Mike Harrison’s basement in June of 2005 with twelve people in attendance. We then started renting a room in The Factory and eventually moved to our current location in 2006. Since then our buildings have been joined together to make one, added more parking, and built an outdoor tent. In summer of 2021 we built new sanctuary (with tall ceilings!) to accommodate our growing family.
Since our planting we have sent out people to plant their own churches in the surround areas. In 2013, one of our former youth pastors planted a church in Pilot Knob, Missouri called Arcadia Valley Chapel. We branched out to Terre Du Lac in 2016. Our most recent church plant is in Charleston, Illinois called Woodlawn Chapel.
What started as twelve attendees has turned into over one hundred families. Our family is always changing and growing. At every point in our story, we see God’s grace and provision written all over. As our story continues we praise God for everything that he has done and is doing.
